Angel Jasso Signs NLI with Syracuse

Conroe, TX – November 21st, 2019 - Scrap Yard Internationals (SI) is excited to announce that Angel Jasso has signed with Syracuse University! Angel is a 2020 outfielder who currently attends Angleton High School and maintains a 3.5 GPA. When she’s not playing for SI or her high school team, Angel loves to CrossFit, watch Stranger Things, study history, and listen to Mariah Carey.

When Angel was asked about the next step in her academic and softball career, Angel said, “I’m super excited to be continuing my education and softball career at Syracuse University! It has always been a dream of mine to be able to play at the next level. From the first step I stepped foot on the campus, I fell in love with the school, softball program and everything it has to offer both on and off the field. I am looking forward to playing for Coach Doepking, Coach Steuerwald, and Coach Shippy because their philosophy behind the game truly fits mine and my goals to succeed in their program. I am extremely grateful for my coaches, parents, family and friends for pushing and helping me along this journey! Go Orange!”

Angel joined Scrap Yard Fast Pitch as a member of the 16U SI team, where Khadija Neely is the head coach. Khadija was thrilled about Angel’s news, saying, “Angel Jasso, is one of those players who will not wow you with crazy energy but once she starts smiling it’s ‘game on baby!’ There is never a time Angel does give 100%. She is the epitome of “All Hustle, Attitude, and Effort.” Angel is a very talented athlete and is going to be a very good asset for Syracuse! I’m very happy to have her apart of our program and excited to see her finally land her a spot at the next level! I’m so proud of her!”

Angel’s parents, Carols and Elizabeth Jasso, were eager to share their thoughts, saying, “Being able to watch Angel’s dream come to life is everything for us! She has worked so hard for this moment, and we couldn’t be prouder! God has had this in the works for some time now, and it’s been nothing short of a blessing! We would like to thank every single person who has played any role in helping our girl reach this huge milestone in her life."

Congratulations to Angel and the Jasso family!

About Scrap Yard Internationals

The Scrap Yard Internationals experience is team focused. The 16U and 18U squads travel as a team on private buses and vans, and by air as needed. At home, all teams practice at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex in a safe and secure environment that includes 14 batting cages and 10 all-turf ballfields. This includes the Scrap Yard Stadium, home to the professional softball team, Scrap Yard Fast Pitch. In August of 2018, SI took their 18U an 16U squads to Tokyo, Japan for a week-long once-in-a-lifetime experience. The athletes played Tokyo Women’s College of Physical Education in a total of four games, experienced Japanese culture, and watched Team USA compete at World Championships in Chiba, Japan. In the summer of 2019, along with the professional team, the SI 18U and 16U teams traveled north to Canada to play in the 2019 Canada Cup.
