Dawgs Announce 2020 Schedule

Scrap Yard Dawgs and USSSA Pride Team Up for Summer Season

Conroe, TX – June 11, 2020 – The Scrap Yard Dawgs (SYD) are back for their fifth summer of professional fastpitch competition and are ready for a thrilling, one-of-a-kind season! The Dawgs and USSSA Pride will spend the 2020 summer in Texas and to battle it out against each other at major national softball events, all of which are USSSA and Scrap Yard sanctioned tournaments and showcases.

In April of this year, the Scrap Yard Dawgs announced a season in partnership with professional fastpitch powerhouse, the USSSA Pride. The USSSA Pride have been the dominant force in professional softball since their inception in 2009, racking up eight NPF Championships, countless Player of the Year awards, and fielding more than 10 Olympic athletes!

The Scrap Yard Dawgs have had an impressive history since they formed in 2016, winning a 2017 NPF Championship in just their second year of play, earning silver medals at Canada Cup in 2019, and fielding more than 20 Olympic athletes from the United States, Mexico, and Italy. The Scrap Yard Dawgs made national news in 2016 by signing left-handed flamethrower Monica Abbott to a one-million-dollar contract, a feat which had never been done before by a female team-sport athlete.

The 2020 season will begin in the Sunshine State at USSSA Space Coast Stadium at the World Fastpitch Championships June 22-27. The WFC is the premier national event for USSSA and features several of the top organizations in the country at the high school age. This year the event will feature 40+ teams in the 14U, 16U and 18U divisions. Additionally, the teams will play in front of over 70 USSSA youth teams at the Space Coast World Series. Beyond the games, the Pride and Dawgs will be a part of all the event festivities including open practices, appearances, and educational seminars.

The Dawgs and Pride will head to the Lonestar State for 4th of July weekend to compete at the Texas Sparkler Regional at Scrap Yard Sports from July 1st-5th. This event is one of 4 regional locations that will make up the 50th annual Triple Crown Sports Colorado Sparkler event. This event will have 160+ teams across multiple age groups (12U, 14U, 16U, 18U) competing against one another while using the US Club Rankings Top 100 poll for seeding.

The two professional squads will continue their Texas stay for the 6th Annual Softball Factory Under Armor Mid America Championship and National Showcase from July 10-12. This event is professionally run by the Softball Factory staff where athletes are tested on softball-specific skills. Teams from all over apply to participate where they will be watched by one or more NCAA Division 3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO colleges and universities.

After Conroe, it’s back to Florida for the annual All-American Games July 22-24. The USSSA All American Games represents over 800 athletes from across the country who have earned their right to represent their respective Region in the 9U to 14U age divisions. This event is hosted annually at USSSA Space Coast Complex and brings together individual fastpitch players for a weeklong experience including interactions with the professional players.

The final event of the summer will take place at Scrap Yard Sports for the Lone Star Showcase July 31-August 2. Five-Tool Sports and Performance will host a premier Showcase made up of 145+ teams across three age divisions (14U, 16U, 18U) with a 5-game guarantee.

The Scrap Yard Dawgs and USSSA Pride are extremely proud to continue their shared tradition of bringing the game to the fans and putting an exciting product on the field. Both teams look forward to seeing fans of softball from all across the nation in support of growing the game and continuing professional softball at the highest level.
