Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Signs Sam Fischer

Conroe, TX – May 7th, 2018 – Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, LLC (SYFP) is proud to announce the signing of Loyola Marymount standout and former USA Softball Women’s National Team member, Sam Fischer! Having proven herself to be a strong asset on the collegiate and international levels of the game, Fischer will be excellent addition to 2018 roster for Scrap Yard Fast Pitch.

Fischer more than left her mark on the Loyola Marymount softball program during her tenure. She concluded her stellar career as a Lion in 2012 as the first four-time First Team All-PCSC selection in school history, as well as the first NFCA All-American in school history! Fischer also shattered several school records and left LMU ranked number one in the Lions career record book in nine offensive categories. These career records included home runs (65), RBIs (172), total bases (495), batting average (.387), slugging percentage (.786), on-base percentage (.494), runs scored (184), doubles (52), and walks (127).

In the summer of 2012, Fischer went on to become a member of the USA Softball Women’s National Team. With USA Softball, she competed at the ISF World Championships and the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City. She helped Team USA bring home the Silver Medal at the ISF World Championships where she hit 2 home runs, had 8 RBIs, and scored 7 runs. Fischer followed up a standout performance at the ISF World Championships by helping Team USA win the Gold at the World Cup. In OKC she batted .412 (7 for 17) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.

Fischer continued to play with USA Softball for three more seasons after her rookie debut (2014, 2015, 2016). During those three years wearing the red, white, and blue she helped win three Gold Medals and one Silver Medal around the world. She completed her National Team career batting a solid .330 with 8 home runs, 31 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.

When asked about joining the team, Fischer said “I’m excited for the opportunity to join Scrap Yard Fast Pitch and to potentially be a part of growing the game that I love. I’m looking forward to an exciting summer of really good softball!”

Head Coach Mike Steuerwald had nothing but great things to say about adding Fischer to the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch lineup in 2018. When asked his thoughts on signing Fischer, Coach Steuerwald said, “Sam Fischer is a great piece to add to a lineup. She is a veteran that has the ability to play multiple positions defensively. She also brings power from the right side of the plate, which is a huge plus with several strong left-handed arms in the circle.”

When asked about adding another seasoned veteran to the roster, Director Connie May said, “Sam Fischer has a tremendous amount of international experience and brings a selfless attitude to our organization. We are very lucky to have her with us.”
