USA Veteran Valerie Arioto Inks with SYFP
Conroe, TX – May 9th, 2018 - Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, LLC (SYFP) has added another USA Softball veteran to the 2018 roster, California at Berkeley alumni, Valerie Arioto! Arioto, a California native, already has seven years of international experience under her belt with the USA Softball Women’s National Team, beginning in 2011 and continuing in 2018. The former Cal Bear will prove to be a great utility player on the field, with the ability to pitch, play infield, and provide power at the plate.
Arioto shined bright in Berkeley from 2008-2012, where she left with two First Team All-American awards, the Lowe’s Senior Class Award, Pac-12 Player of the Year, and All-Pac 10 honors, among many others. Arioto was a part of the Bear softball program for a total of five seasons due to a red-shirt season in 2011. In addition to her numerous collegiate accolades, Arioto proved herself on the international field with USA Softball. Valerie was a part of the World Cup Gold Medalist team in 2014, Player of the Year in 2013 and 2012, and World Cup Gold Medalist and Pan-American Games Gold Medalist in 2011.
Arioto was asked about the opportunity to add professional softball player to her impressive resume, and she responded by saying, “Scrap Yard Fast Pitch is such a well-respected program with so many talented players! They have been instrumental in growing the game of softball, and I am so excited to be a part of the team. It’s a great opportunity to be able to get extra training time with many of my current USA teammates to prepare for World Championships in Japan this summer!"
Head Coach Mike Steuerwald expressed his excitement about having another USA star who will hit the field in Houston, saying “Valerie is a fantastic player that brings a lot of experience to the field. She has been tested in international competition and will bring a high level of work ethic and professionalism for us at Scrap Yard Fast Pitch.”
Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Director, Connie May, has been thrilled with the addition of so many talented USA players, including Arioto. Connie May stated, “Valerie has been a staple on Team USA and has competed at every level of play. Her International experience will help Team USA achieve Gold and will be a treat this summer for the fans to enjoy.”
